Artist's Comments

Used this nice and expensive thing called gouache. Try to say it. Study of seeing colors in a white set up. Pastel touchusps.

Wow that is so beautiful. You really seem to have used the medium to your advantages; where you didn't know how to use them, you cleverly made stylistic choices that worked really well in the end product. I so enjoy the mark making; it shows so much of the work that you put into it, and shows a lot of personality. I think the colors really define this piece, but even more so the study of lights and darks. Since I've been appreciating art more, I've found my interest mostly moving towards how light plays on figures and objects. This really has an atmosphere, a feeling of daybreak shining through a window, and the colors just imply a beautiful beach house scene or something. I don't know what it is, but I really love the mood in this set by color and lighting. If I had to critique anything, I woudl say that the warm colors on the far right of the piece adds a little distressing contrast, taking your eye away from the box just a little. If the saturation of it were knocked down just a tad it would cool down that 'red' and better blend with the rest of the piece. But that seems to be the only part that stands out; everything else is so harmoniously united by your use of colors even in the shadows.
